POLITICAL ECONOMY & ADAM SMITH EDITED BOOK THAT SELECTED PAPERS OF
CONFERENCE IS PUBLISHED BY YON PUBLICATION IN ISTANBUL.

Adam Smith (1723-1790)
Adam Smith was a Scottish moral philosopher and a
pioneering political economist. He is a major contributor to the modern
perception of capitalist society and its structural problems. He paved
the way for the critique of political economy and utilitarian moral
values. One of the key figures of the intellectual movement known as the
Scottish Enlightenment, he is known primarily as the author of two
treatises: The Theory of Moral Sentiments (1759), and An Inquiry into
the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations (1776). Yet his whole
intellectual work may be seen as an attempt to analyse critically the
human condition in the age "commercial society" as he used to call
capitalist society.
